Is the AI quiz generator free?
Yes. Without an account, you can make 3 quiz generation attempts per 24 hours, with up to 25 questions each. Answering, editing and retaking saved quizzes is free. Generation may be temporarily unavailable during high traffic.
Can I make a quiz from PDFs, notes or photos?
Yes. Enter a topic, paste text or add up to 4 files totalling 10 MB: PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, JPG, PNG or WebP. Scanned PDFs are supported; large materials may need splitting.
What question types does the generator create?
Single-choice, multiple-choice and numeric questions, depending on the material. Every question includes an answer key and explanation.
How is the score calculated?
Every question has equal weight. Multiple-choice answers must include the full correct set without extra options. Skipped questions receive 0 points. Numbers are checked locally with rounding tolerance; scoring requires no further AI call.
Where are quizzes and answers saved?
Up to 20 quizzes, current answers and the latest result are saved in this browser’s localStorage. They do not sync between devices. People using the same browser profile can see them. Clearing site data removes them. CSV lets you keep questions, answer keys and explanations.
Can the quiz or result contain mistakes?
Yes. AI may misread material or create an incorrect answer key. Check questions against the source and correct them in the editor before studying. Saving edits clears the current attempt and previous result.

How do I generate a test from my notes?
Paste the text of a note into the topic field or add a file containing your notes. Generate questions, then take the test on your account. You can also start with a topic alone, without a file.
Is Smartby suitable for running a quiz for a class?
No. Smartby is for checking your own knowledge — you take the test on your own account. If you are looking for a tool to run a live quiz in front of a group, Smartby is not built for that.
How are tests different from flashcards?
A test checks whether you can answer a question in context, and ends with a score that shows the gaps. Flashcards are for repeating single items and come back to the ones you get wrong. In Smartby one leads to the other: the weak spots in a test become flashcards.
Can the questions be wrong?
Yes. AI-generated content may contain errors, so results and questionable items are worth checking against the source material.
