AI that will not do the homework
The most common objection to AI in education is that the learner gets a finished answer and learns nothing. In Smartby the parent decides whether that happens. With finished answers turned off, the assistant still explains concepts and works through examples, but it will not solve the task the learner has to hand in — it walks them to their own answer instead.
Explaining stays, doing the task does not
Definitions, concepts, a worked example on a different problem, and feedback on the learner's own attempt all stay available. What goes is the finished solution to the task they have to hand in.
On every screen, not only in chat
The mode covers chat, working with materials, the workspace, and notes. There is no side door for asking the same question and getting the answer.
Cautious by default
If the app cannot read the settings, the learner gets the guided mode. A failure will not hand out the answers a parent asked them to work for.

Common questions
Does Smartby simply refuse to answer?
No. Study mode is not a refusal mode. The assistant still explains concepts, defines terms, gives background, and works through an example on a different problem. What it withholds is the finished solution to the specific task the learner has been set.
Does the mode apply to every subject?
Yes. The distinction runs between explaining and doing the task, not between subjects. An essay is treated exactly like a mathematics problem or a translation exercise.
Can the child get around it elsewhere in the app?
The mode covers every place a learner can put a task in front of the assistant: chat, working with materials, the workspace, and notes. It does not rely on instructions to the model alone — the tools that produce a finished answer are simply unavailable in this mode.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
In a general AI chat the learner decides what to ask, and there is no setting a parent could use to limit finished solutions. In Smartby that decision belongs to the parent account and applies across the whole app rather than to a single conversation.
Can Smartby be wrong in study mode?
Yes. AI-generated content may contain errors, including the hints that lead towards a solution, so results and important information still have to be verified.
